Kremkoin

A Kremkoin,[1] also spelled Krem Coin,[2][3][4] is a large golden coin in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2 that is rewarded for completing a Bonus Area. Every Kremkoin has to be collected by Diddy and Dixie Kong in both games. Every level has usually two or three Kremkoins, and therefore the same number of Bonus Areas, and a Kremkoin is also rewarded for defeating a world boss the first time. If Diddy and Dixie redo an already completed Bonus Area, the Kremkoin is shown with a check mark over it, and collecting it does not count toward the total. Additionally, completing a boss level again will not cause a Kremkoin to appear.

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, there are 75 Kremkoins in total. 15 Kremkoins have to be paid to Klubba at each of his kiosks for the Kongs to enter a specific Lost World level. The single Bonus Area in every Lost World level rewards a DK Coin, not a Kremkoin unlike most levels. Likewise, the Kongs are rewarded a DK Coin for completing Krocodile Kore. There is a cheat in Pirate Panic that allows the Kongs to obtain all 75 Kremkoins at once.

In Donkey Kong Land 2, there are only 47 Kremkoins to obtain, and rather than pay for each Lost World level, the Kongs pay every Kremkoin at once to unlock the Lost World entirely.

Kremkoins were replaced with Bonus Coins in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.
