Klubba is a large, muscular Kremling who operates Klubba's Kiosk, a toll bridge to the Lost World, in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Klubba speaks in a stereotypical pirate accent, and uses typical pirate slang such as "matey".

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Klubba was hired by Kaptain K. Rool prevent others from entering the Lost World.[citation needed] He is at a Klubba's Kiosk in every world from Crocodile Cauldron to lastly K. Rool's Keep. Klubba typically displays rough and protective behavior despite admitting to being miserable under K. Rool's leadership.[1] He provides three options to them: "Pay 15 Kremkoins", "Fight Him", and "Run Away". Klubba is greedy, since he only allows the Kongs to access the Lost World from a single payment of fifteen Kremkoins per world. If the Kongs try to fight him, Klubba uses his cudgel to whack Diddy and Dixie out of his tollbooth, and back into the world map. The Kongs can decide to return to the world map without being attacked. After being paid, Klubba makes friendly comments and even offers to help the Kongs if they were to get into any trouble.[2][3] Klubba, like the other Kremlings are part of the Kremling Kuthroats class during the ending's Cast of Characters.

Klubba greatly resembles Kudgel, except his body is light green instead of gray. It is unknown if they have any relation to each other. One profile for Klubba is accompanied by a screenshot of Klubba's Kiosk as well as artwork of Kudgel.[4]

The Game Boy Advance version added an optional minigame, Bag a Bug that involves Diddy or Dixie (depending on the lead Kong) attempting to collect fireflies while they avoid Klubba, who continually walks around the circular path, waiting to whack a Kong with his cudgel.

Donkey Kong Land 2[edit]

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Klubba has only Klubba's Kiosk, accessed from the Crocodile Isle map, and he is placed on the left side instead of the right. Klubba has to be given a single payment of all 47 Kremkoins to access the entire Lost World.

Trivia[edit]

  • During development of Donkey Kong Country 2, Klubba was planned as the boss of the Lost World, before being replaced with a rematch with K. Rool. Remnants of the fight were reincorporated into the fight with Kudgel.[9][10]
