Assist parts are a mechanic in Super Mario Maker 2 allowing players to place certain blocks and power-ups in the levels of Story Mode to ease the completion. Assist parts are mentioned by Luigi after the player loses two lives in a level and after the Game Over screen, after which the player can press minus in the middle of a level to access them.
