Isn't it speculative to assume that the woman behind the guards is Peach's mother? There's nothing in the text that mentions her mother and it states that the Mushroom Kingdom is ruled by the king and his daughter, likely showing the absence of a queen. Furthermore, the woman is situated behind the guards as if she is not allowed direct contact. Finally, she does not wear a crown unlike the king and Peach. It's far more likely that she is just a noblewoman or some other non-royal mushroom person.--Platform (talk) 05:10, June 7, 2023 (EDT)

No, the lady next to the king in that picture is the queen: she wears a crown, her clothing are different enough from Peach's (see the veil around the head that Peach doesn't wear and the very distinct crown/tiara) so you can't use a "it's a simple miscoloration error" excuse. The strongest hint was also how Peach and the King have the same exact Toad-esque designs in the manga (Peach has also the same colors she sports in "How to win", in the cover: it is intentional) and so does the queen (again, see the veil) except for the slimmer look. Um...is Peach in this picture? I don't see her, and if the woman standing next to the king is Peach's mother, is Peach the one behind the guards? I'm confused. -- Artwork of Rosalina used in Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Kart Tour and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. She is in the next page. The woman behind the guards is just a random court dame. Unrelated: come to think of it... do you reckon Peachette's inspiration (and possibly that flashback scene in the movie with teen/young adult Peach is wearing Toad attires) comes from this illustration? I mean, a Toad-esque Peach is not something you'd often see, back then. My avatar's face to use in the signature Mariuigi Khed 18:33, December 7, 2023 (EST)
Actually, I think so! It might have influenced both Peachette and the teenage Peach seen in Peach's flashback in the movie! Of course, we can't confirm this, but there are some similarities. And you're right, this is the only piece of early media I've seen with Peach looking like that. Peach's Toad-esque design in that screenshot doesn't look a lot like Peachette, but maybe the developers thought about basing Peachette off this idea? That's very intriguing, thanks for bringing that up! -- Artwork of Rosalina used in Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Kart Tour and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Update: Look at this! What you said was hinted at in a September 2018 Nintendo Direct! That's pretty cool! -- Artwork of Rosalina used in Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Kart Tour and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
